about moth

What Moth is, and why readers switch.

Start here if you are deciding whether Moth fits your reading life better than the older catalog apps.

What is Moth?

Moth is a reading tracker for iPhone and Android. You can log books, rate them, watch your reading stats build over time, and turn finished books into shareable cards.

Who is Moth for?

Moth is for readers who want a calmer, more considered place to keep their library. Some use it privately as a personal record, others use it because the share-cards make finished books feel worth posting.

How is Moth different from Goodreads or StoryGraph?

Moth is built around two things those apps do not prioritize: a design that feels good to return to, and a lightweight share loop that turns a finished book into a post-ready card. It is less about maintaining a public profile, more about keeping a reading life in one place.

Do I need to post publicly to use it well?

No. Sharing is optional. Moth works just as well if you only want a private reading log, your ratings, and a clean archive of what you finished.

pricing and availability

What you can get today, and what is still coming.

The basics are simple: free to start, available on iPhone and Android, with a few important features still being built deliberately.

Is Moth free?

Yes. Core tracking, personalized library, and shareable cards are free. There is also an optional paid plan for power users who want more. There are no ads on any plan.

What do I get in the free version?

The free version covers the core of the app: logging books, keeping your reading history, rating books, and making share-cards from finished books.

Is Moth available on Android?

Yes. Moth is now available on Android through the Google Play Store, alongside the iPhone version on the App Store.

Can I import my Goodreads or StoryGraph library?

Not yet. Import is actively being worked on and will arrive in a future release. If that feature matters to you, email us so we know to keep you in the loop.

Do I need an account before I can explore the app?

No account is required to use Moth. You can start logging books and exploring the app without creating an account. You can later create an account to sync your library between devices and prevent you loosing your data.

privacy and data

What stays private, what gets shared, and what support can help with.

Moth is built for readers who want a personal library first, and public posting only when it feels worth sharing.

Is my reading data private?

Yes. By default, your reading data is private to you. Nothing you log is public, and there is no feed of strangers watching what you read.

What actually gets shared?

Only the book cards you choose to export or post. Your logging history, ratings, and the rest of your library stay personal.

Can other people see my notes or ratings?

No. Your notes and ratings stay tied to your private library unless a future feature explicitly asks you to share something.

What should I email support about?

Email support for bugs, account trouble, billing questions, or any feature requests. If something feels broken or unclear, that is the right place to ask.

How long does support take to reply?

We reply within 5 business days. If your note is about a bug or account issue, include as much detail as you can so we can help faster.
